FOUR HORSEMEN TOURNAMENT #22 OVERVIEW

The Four Horsemen (4HM) Old School Magic format is focused on the original 1993/1994 expansions sets of Magic the Gathering including: Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends & The Dark. In this format, only cards from these expansions plus the five basic lands and dual lands from the baseline ABU sets, and the 93/94 promo cards (Arena, Nalathni Dragon, and Sewers of Estark) can be utilized. The only cards from Alpha, Beta, or Unlimited (ABU) allowed in 4HM are Basic Lands & Dual Lands. This format structure is intentionally designed to allow the emergence of other cards that rarely ever see any play in any other Old School Magic format.
 

4HM T22 SPECIAL SUMMER LEAGUE OVERVIEW: ​

• Summer League Deck Brewing:

  • Players build at least one Four Horsemen Decks compliant with the standard 4HM Banned & Restricted list

  • Four Horsemen Rules Document With Banned & Restricted List - https://bit.ly/4HMRULES

  • Card Pool: Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends, The Dark, Basic Lands & Dual Lands

  • 60 Card Minimum Deck Size, No Maximum

  • 15 Card Sideboard Allowed

  • Proxies & Reprints are Allowed to make this format accessible to all

• Casual Fun Summer League Structure:

  • For Summer League, we came up with a structure that is much more casual, fun, and less rigid than a real tournament structure for the summer

  • With an extended schedule, you can play as many or as few matches as you wish!

  • This seems to be a good arrangement that people really like, so enjoy!

• 6 Weeks of Group Matches Play for Summer League:

  • Play as many matches over the first 6 weeks of the event.

  • With 6 weeks of group matches, you play as much, or as little, as you like and score points!

  • It's very much up to the players how much they want to play!

  • Group Matches will run from July 5 until August 16, and then we will move to Top 8 based on highest points scored for the top 8 players.

• Players Can Brew and Play Multiple Different Decks:

  • Feel free to try our different brews

  • Play as many different games and decks and players or as few as you like!

  • It's a laid back summer vibe, where we also encourage "Jank" and out of left field, odd ball deck brews!  Try out some funky combos!

  • Switch decks between matches as often as you wish.

  • Play the best of 3 games for a match with a deck before switching.

  • When we Start Top 8, players who make quarter finals will need to decide on a deck to play to finish out the quarter finals, semis and finals.

• ​Playing Summer League Matches:

  • This is a free webcam-based, asynchronous event. Use Facebook messenger to coordinate on matches.

  • For your matches, just drop a message in the 4HM Summer League T22 Group Chat for the tournament and hit up which ever opponents might be free or want to schedule games.

• ​Deck Photos:

  • ​We definitely want deck pictures, always, so we can share these with the group and on the site!

  • players can do one deck photo if they play a single deck, or multiple deck photos, your choice.

  • Deck photos will be shared once we proceed to Top 8!

• Summer League Points:

  • Players receive 1 point per match played (best of 3 games) and an additional 2 points per each match won.

  • Both players receive 1 point for playing, and winner receives 2 extra points for 3 points total.

  • The Top 8 players at the end of the Summer will proceed to the Quarter Finals starting Aug 16.
