FOUR HORSEMEN TOURNAMENT #23 OVERVIEW

The Four Horsemen (4HM) Old School Magic format is focused on the original 1993/1994 expansions sets of Magic the Gathering including: Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends & The Dark. In this format, only cards from these expansions plus the five basic lands and dual lands from the baseline ABU sets, and the 93/94 promo cards (Arena, Nalathni Dragon, and Sewers of Estark) can be utilized. The only cards from Alpha, Beta, or Unlimited (ABU) allowed in 4HM are Basic Lands & Dual Lands. This format structure is intentionally designed to allow the emergence of other cards that rarely ever see any play in any other Old School Magic format.

 

4HM T23 SPICE EVENT - ​"​Discounted Legends Casting Costs + Jank & Janky Combos!"

Our first Discounted Legends Spice Event in Tournament 5 , which was two years ago, was a huge success and the players really loved the fun brews. This event should deliver a similar fun playing experience! Let The Legends and Jank Fly!!

Goal: The goal of this "Discounted Legends, Janky & Funky Combos" spice event is specifically not to be a "Spiky" competitive tournament, but rather one that is fun, different, & above all Janky! The focus here is not merely to win with the most competitive deck, but rather to win with the 'Jankiest' Jank and Combos and Legends, which rarely see much play.

 

OVERVIEW - "​Discounted Legends Casting Costs + Jank & Janky Combos!"

- Regular Four Horsemen with the following Spice Deck Brewing Rules:

Summary:

- 6 Legendary creatures (All Enchantments, "Legendary" Cards and Legendary Creatures are Restricted. 
Karakas & Blood Moon are a Banned)
- 4 Rarely played cards ("4 Rarely played 'Jank' unique, one of cards, not 4 of the same)
- 2 Janky Combos

1.) Discounted Legends Casting Costs:

- All decks Must have at Least 6 Legendary Creatures at All Times. All Enchantments, "Legendary" Cards and Legendary Creatures are Restricted.  Karakas & Blood Moon are a Banned.

- If The legendary converted Mana cost = 6 or More, Reduce the Cost by 2 Colorless.  Restricted to 2 of these Legends.
- If The legendary converted Mana cost = 5, Reduce the Cost by 1 Colorless.  Restricted to 1 of these Legends.
 

2.) Jank & Janky Combos: All Decks Must Include 4 Rarely played ‘Jank’ Cards & 2 'Janky' Combos at all Times.

- Players will use the 4HM "Jank-O-Meter" at https://tcgamesllc-cyber.github.io/4hm/ as a reference for what is defined as a "Jank" card. 

- The "Jank-O-Meter" will be  utilized to help score the "Jankiest" 4HM Deck.  In this tournament, the deck with " The Most Jank" that performs the best (not necessarily the wining 1st place deck) will be crowned the "4HM Jank Champion"!
